Launching in Lush stores and online on Thursday 1st February, Lush’s 2024 Mother’s Day collection celebrates motherhood in all its forms.
Six returning favourites and 16 new products make up this collection of entirely vegan and self-preserving goodies designed for mums and maternal figures; whether they’re nature lovers, the heart and soul, artists, dreamers or just a little bit unconventional. This year, the fresh handmade cosmetic company aims to help shift the focus of motherhood from self sacrifice to self love.
Lush worked with a wide network of female-run co-operatives for many of the ingredients in these products, including organic Argan oil sourced from Morocco in the Peach Blossom Lush Melt, and shea butter from Ghana used in Wild Violet Co-Mingle. Atampoka, part of the Ojoba Collective in Ghana, said: “All the women here who are producing the [shea] butter, we are doing it for our children. Our children can take over from us in the future, so that the butter production house can be here for the community forever.”
Product inventors for this new collection spanned the entire Lush company, including inventions by shop floor staff and members of the parents community network. Snuggles shower gel, inspired by inventor Gary’s daughter’s love of snuggles, Wild Violet, named after parents community network co-chair Kimmey’s daughter Violet, and Yummy Custard, a classic and much-loved Lush product from the archives, are all expected to be bestsellers this year.
Created to celebrate the power of intergenerational love, Alina is a new fragrance launching for Mother’s Day but joining the Lush collection all year round. Alina Gliwinska, the Lush perfumer behind the new fragrance, said: “The name of the perfume is Alina. It is my name; a name which was chosen by my grandmother. It is an example of how generations still influence each other. How they are still and always will be relevant in our lives. How the existence and work of all generations of grandmothers, mothers and daughters are essential to raise a child – to raise a new generation.”
