The bedtime-inspired spa treatment which uses hot chocolate body scrub and a cosy duvet

Nestled under a warm duvet in a dreamlike pink treatment room with floating bubbles is the setting for surely one of the cosiest full body scrubs on the market.

The Comforter? spa treatment takes clients into the ‘world of pure imagination’, inspired by bedtime – the moment when you’re tucked up under a duvet about to drift off to sleep, and your imagination is able to run wild.

The principle of The Comforter? is that it’s going to exfoliate and moisturise your whole body, but that isn’t necessarily always a warm and cosy experience – quite often exfoliating treatments are cold, damp, rather miserable and a little bit scratchy! We wanted to bring that kind of treatment in from the cold.

A hot chocolate body scrub and rich rose body serum are melted into warm oils to be spread across the skin. Inspired by a Parisian hot chocolate cafe, the raw cacao-based scrub is melted and massaged across the body to gently exfoliate using a rolling, seemingly endless massage technique.

After the scrub is removed limb by limb with warm mitts, a deeply softening melted rose serum containing rose clay, argan oil and illipe and shea butters is massaged over the skin. This silky serum allows the massage to flow freely while the product sinks in, leaving the body supple and glowing.

The unique soundtrack, written and recorded by Lush’s in-house band The Fresh Handmade Sound, sees recognisable songs reimagined into lullabies – nostalgia and fun combine to make an exfoliating treatment like no other.

If you were to just have a fabulous massage, that’s good. If you were to have beautiful products used to moisturise your skin, that’s lovely. If you were to listen to a great piece of music, that’d be really nice. If you were to snuggle up into a nice warm bed, that’d be great! Put it all together, and you’ve got something else.

After the treatment, clients are invited to relax in the spa kitchen, explore the complimentary products in the bath and shower rooms, and enjoy a vegan mocktail full of candyfloss, rose syrup and sparkling water which aims to remind them never to take life too seriously, and to have fun!

If you like to smile, enjoy a touch of humour or a good body scrub so you feel really clean, if you want to feel pampered or if you need cheering up at all, then The Comforter? is for you.
