慈善愛心潤膚乳義賣活動 支援兔廬外出拯救及照顧棄兔工作｜LUSH Charity Pot Event for Tolobunny

慈善團體「兔廬 Tolobunny」近年持續接收大量遭棄養的兔子。於 2023 年，他們共接收及拯救了179 隻被遺棄兔子，而截至 2024 年 7 月 10 日則接收了 55 隻。雖然接收數量按年下跌，但數字的下降並非代表實際棄兔數量減少，而是由於領養申請遞減，不少兔子於機構滯留等候新家，同時人手短缺令機構無暇接收更多棄兔。有見及此，於 2024 年 7 月 27 至 8 月 2 日期間， Lush 全線港澳門市及官網所售出的慈善愛心潤膚乳、慈善愛心潤膚芭和草根福祉慈善香水的所得收益將不扣除成本，全數撥捐「兔廬 Tolobunny」，以支援機構外出拯救棄兔之醫療費用。
目前於「兔廬 Tolobunny」等待新家的兔子數目直逼 70 隻，遺棄速度遠超領養。而兔廬幾乎每天都收到棄兔的查詢及申請，當中原因各異，如移民、家中缺乏空間、主人敏感等等。除棄養申請外，亦有不少人將兔子遺棄於街上、野外、山邊等等危險地方，因此「兔廬Tolobunny」平均每星期都需進行緊急外出拯救行動。被救回的棄兔一般身體狀況較差，需要更高醫療費用及更有經驗的義工照顧，令機構義工人手及資源均受到莫大壓力。
機構發言人表示：「根據漁農自然護理署的《香港陸棲哺乳動物名錄》，香港是沒有野生兔子的，所以如果你在戶外看到一隻獨自遊走的兔子，很可能是被棄養的。請撥打兔廬熱線（+852 6660 8508）來拯救牠們！」

產品貼紙中的主角是一隻被二次棄養的兔子，名叫灰太郎。他當時與十多隻兔子同住一個室外炎熱又骯髒狹小的露台。被救出時，一歲的灰太郎體重只有 600g（同齡健康兔兔應有 1kg），嚴重飢餓導致牠走路乏力，睪丸因脫水乾至扁塌，只剩外皮，牙瘡疼痛導致無法進食，卻因營養不良、體重不足而無法即時進行手術改善情況。

Hong Kong-based charity Tolobunny has been at the forefront of rescuing and providing care for abandoned rabbits in recent years. In 2023, they successfully rescued and sheltered a total of 179 abandoned rabbits. As of July 10, 2024, they have taken in an additional 55 rabbits. However, despite a decline in the number of intakes this year, the unfortunate reality is that the number of abandoned rabbits has not decreased. This has resulted in a growing population of rabbits waiting for adoption at the organisation. Moreover, Tolobunny is facing challenges due to a manpower shortage, which hinders its ability to rescue and care for more abandoned rabbits.
To support Tolobunny’s mission, from July 27 to August 2, 2024, all sales revenue generated from Lush Charity Pot body lotion, Charity Pot Coin, and Grassroots Perfume, sold at all Lush Hong Kong and Macau stores and on the official website, will be fully donated to Tolobunny. No costs will be deducted from the donation so that we can support their onsite rescue and medical expenses for abandoned rabbits.
Currently, Tolobunny is providing care for 70 rabbits that are eagerly awaiting adoption. Unfortunately, the abandonment rate is significantly higher than the adoption rate. Tolobunny receives daily inquiries and applications for rabbit abandonment, citing reasons such as immigration, lack of space at home, and allergies. Many individuals have resorted to directly abandoning rabbits in precarious locations such as streets and hillsides to exacerbate the situation. Consequently, Tolobunny is compelled to conduct emergency rescue operations every week. These abandoned rabbits often arrive in poor physical condition, requiring extensive medical attention and the expertise of experienced volunteers to provide care. This places immense pressure on the organization’s resources and necessitates higher medical expenses.
Tolobunny’s spokesperson strongly encourages everyone encountering a lost or abandoned rabbit in the wild to take immediate action. According to the ‘The Checklist of Terrestrial Mammals of Hong Kong’ conducted by AFCD, wild rabbits are not native to the local wildlife. Therefore, a rabbit found outdoors roaming alone is likely an abandoned pet. Please contact the Tolobunny hotline (+852 6660 8508) for prompt rescue assistance.
To enhance awareness and understanding of rabbit adoption and Tolobunny’s rescue initiatives, Tolobunny will host in-person sessions at selected Lush stores for two consecutive days. The rabbit featured on the product sticker is Graytaro (灰太郎), who has experienced abandonment twice. It was living with over 10 other rabbits in a small outdoor patio that was hot and dirty. When it was rescued and was one year old, it weighed only 600g (a healthy one-year-old rabbit should weigh around 1kg). Its severe hunger had weakened it, and it could not walk properly. Due to dehydration, his testicles had shriveled up and flattened, leaving only skin. It also suffered from painful dental issues that hindered his ability to eat. Additionally, it was too malnourished and underweight to undergo immediate surgery to address its condition.
