Imaginez si nous pouvions remplir une carte avec des lieux où la Saint-Nicolas est fêtée de façon inclusive à travers la Belgique.
Malheureusement, il n’est pas toujours facile de trouver des endroits répondant à ce critère. Mais vous pouvez nous aider !
Vous connaissez une école, un club de sport, une bibliothèque, une commune, un événement ou une organisation qui adopte pleinement une célébration inclusive de la Saint-Nicolas et qui a complètement banni toute représentation caricaturale du Père Fouettard ?
Faites-le-nous savoir, nous serions ravis de les mettre en lumière !
Non seulement cela serait gratifiant pour eux, mais ce serait aussi bénéfique pour tous ceux qui recherchent des « safe spaces ».
Nous veillerons à ce que tous ces lieux formidables figurent sur une carte sur notre site web, vous permettant ainsi d’identifier quel défilé, quelle école ou quelle boulangerie de votre quartier privilégie une célébration pour tous les enfants.
Avez-vous remarqué des représentations archaïques et caricaturales du Père Fouettard dans votre entourage ? Exprimez-vous !
Nous serons heureux de vous fournir quelques conseils sur la façon d’aborder cela. Plus vous serez informé, plus cela se passera en douceur. Se renseigner sur le préjudice causé par une représentation caricaturale du Père Fouettard sera d’une grande aide.
En particulier, les écoles jouent un rôle crucial dans la société, alors renseignez-vous tôt sur leurs projets pour la Saint-Nicolas. En offrant de bons exemples, le destinataire du message peut agir immédiatement.
Car parfois, ce n’est pas par mauvaise intention, mais par ignorance. Tout ce dont ces personnes avaient alors besoin était que quelqu’un les en informe, et cette personne pourrait être vous !
Prenons, par exemple, M., qui a été à la base d’un changement au sein de son groupe d’amis : Il y a quelques années, notre groupe d’amis a organisé une fête de la Saint-Nicolas. Cependant, j’ai rapidement remarqué que personne n’avait demandé à l’organisation à quoi ressembleraient les Pères Fouettards qui seraient envoyés. En ligne, j’ai découvert qu’ils n’étaient pas des représentations inclusives ou agréables ; bien au contraire.
Même s’ils n’y avaient jamais pensé auparavant, la graine était semée, et les parents du groupe ont rapidement contacté l’organisation. La réponse a été décevante, ce qui a conduit à la résiliation de notre arrangement avec cette organisation. À la place, nous avons loué un costume de Saint-Nicolas, et l’un des hommes du groupe a assumé ce rôle. « Cela a rendu la fête agréable pour tous les enfants ! »
Ainsi, vous voyez, vous aussi pouvez contribuer à éliminer les représentations caricaturales du Père Fouettard de notre société. Vous aussi, vous pouvez aider à changer le monde et à le rendre plus inclusif.
Peu importe la taille de votre action, elle met quelque chose en mouvement. Toutes ces petites actions travaillent ensemble pour faire de la fête de la Saint-Nicolas une célébration agréable pour tous.

Ken jij een school, sportclub, bibliotheek, gemeente, evenement of organisatie… waar ze helemaal gaan voor een inclusief Sinterklaasfeest en Zwarte Piet volledig verbannen hebben?
Laat het ons weten en wij zetten hen graag in de kijker!
Niet alleen is dat leuk voor hen, maar het is ook handig voor iedereen die “veilige” plekken zoeken.
Wij zorgen ervoor dat al die goede plekken op een kaartje op onze website terechtkomen, zo weet jij welke stoet, school of bakker in jouw buurt belang hecht aan een feest voor alle kinderen.
Merk je in je omgeving dat er nog oude stereotiepe Pieten worden afgebeeld?
Zeg er dan iets van!
Wij geven je graag een paar tips hoe je dit aan kan aanpakken.
Hoe meer je er zelf over weet, hoe vlotter dat dat gaat. Je informeren over de schadelijkheid van zwarte Piet zal een grote hulp zijn. Durf je het gesprek niet aan te gaan kan ook een brief in de bus steken, een mailtje sturen of vragen aan andere mensen om het te samen te doen.
Vooral scholen hebben een belangrijke rol in de maatschappij, dus vraag op tijd hoe zij Sinterklaas gaan vieren. Door goede voorbeelden mee te geven, kan de ontvanger van de boodschap onmiddellijk in actie te schieten.
Want soms is het niet eens uit slechte wil, maar uit onwetendheid. Het enige dat deze personen op dat moment nodig hadden, was iemand die hen erop wees. En die persoon kan jij zijn!
Zoals bijvoorbeeld M. die voor verandering zorgde in haar vriendengroep:
Een paar jaar terug wilde onze vriendengroep een Sinterklaasfeest op poten zetten. Alleen merkte ik al snel dat niemand had nagevraagd bij de organisatie hoe de Pieten die gestuurd zouden worden eruit zouden zien. Online zag ik namelijk dat het helemaal geen leuke inclusieve Pietjes zijn, maar het tegenovergestelde.
Ook al hadden ze daar vroeger nooit bij stilgestaan: het zaadje was geplant en de ouders uit de groep hebben snel contact opgenomen met de organisatie. Het antwoord was teleurstellend en als gevolg werd de afspraak met deze organisatie opgezegd. Er werd een Sinterklaas kostuum gehuurd en één van de mannen uit de groep heeft die rol op zich genomen. “Zo werd het toch een leuk feest voor alle kinderen!”
Dus zie je, ook jij kan er mee voor zorgen dat Zwarte Piet verdwijnt uit onze maatschappij, ook jij kan mee de wereld veranderen en inclusiever maken.
Hoe klein jouw actie ook is, het zet iets in gang, al die kleine acties samen, zorgen we samen voor dat het een leuk sinterklaasfeest word voor iedereen.

We’re happy to provide you with a few tips on how to approach this. The more informed you are, the smoother it goes. Educating yourself on the harm caused by Zwarte Piet will be immensely helpful.
Particularly, schools play a crucial role in society, so inquire early about their Saint Nicholas plans. By offering good examples, the message recipient can spring into action right away.
Because sometimes, it’s not from ill intentions but from ignorance. All those individuals needed at that moment was someone to point it out, and that someone could be you!
Take, for instance, M., who brought about change within her circle of friends: A few years back, our group of friends planned a Saint Nicholas celebration. However, I quickly noticed that nobody had inquired about how the Petes being sent would look. Online, I discovered they weren’t inclusive or enjoyable representations; quite the opposite.
Even though it had never crossed their minds before, the seed was planted, and the parents in the group promptly reached out to the organization. The response was disappointing, leading to the termination of our arrangement with that organization. Instead, we rented a Saint Nicholas costume, and one of the men in the group assumed that role. ‘This made it a joyful celebration for all children!’
So, you see, you too can contribute to removing Zwarte Piet from our society. You too can help change the world and make it more inclusive.
No matter how small your action, it sets something in motion. All these small actions collectively work toward making Saint Nicholas a delightful celebration for everyone.
